Best news of the year 2013…. in a row

best yearHi (Furry)friends,

Lately we’ve got some wonderful news.

It was about the straycat-problem in the Netherlands.

You see, when in Holland the population

of strays or geese or other animals

is too big,

they like to shoot them,

in large numbers

and think the problem has been solved…

IMG_1142

The government allowed to shoot

from 8,000 untill 13,500 straycats

every year!!

Can you believe that?

The worst of the story is,

when you’re an outside housecat,

or an in- and outcat,

or…

well, you know what I mean…

The hunters don’t think:

“Oh, that’s Little Binky from next door…”

no, they just shoot…

like a hobby…

What? Okay Granny..

no, not to long

I’ll come to the point right now.

best news2

To make a long story short…

137,123 people,

us included,

signed a petition against the killing

and WE WON..

NO KILLING MORE ALLOWED..

YES!!

We can all walk freely again…PHEW…

and the surplus of strays

get help

accordance the TrapNeuterReturn system…

….that other organizations  are already use

for ages!…

best news1

And we’ve got a ‘Thank You’ letter

with a saddle cover for the bike… 🙂

Have you seen the ears..

Granny, I don’t know what people

are thinking, when they see that ears

coming from under your buttocks…MOL 😀

tuna0

I don’t see my tuna…

tuna

Can I have some tuna, please,

I have a hungry belly to still…

before I can go on with my blog.

tuna2

Thank you, Granny,

that will do for now…

CAM01689

Wonderful, wonderful news you won. Just magnificent. Blessed cats. Not their fault they got born! It is horrible to imagine them being shot – especially, as you say, in an/outdoor cat.

    Happy new year 🙂

My favorite cat EVER died over a decade ago.. He looked a lot like Binky. When I was living in another state in the early 1990’s he disappeared. A neighbor in back of our house found him in their garage a few days later, in pain, a bb pellet in his rear. I took him to the vet who took xrays. He couldn’t take the bullet out and said that it would be encapsulated. He lived for another 10 years after that.

Thinking about this makes me wonder how many cats shot in the Netherlands were left to a painful recovery or death when the shot didn’t instantly kill them.

That’s fantastic news. I wasn’t aware of this law, but am very glad it’s been changed. An animal friendly society is the best sort of society. 🙂

Congratulations my friend. Your blog is indeed amazing. Full of heart and compassion for others and yes, our beautiful furry friends. It saddens me though that they are shooting cats to fix the population problem. That is horrific and barbaric. Cats are gentle creatures. I hope the government continues to find ways in creating a solution without harming them. Bless your heart for being a true advocate for cats and animals. Have a great weekend.

Oh Binky! First things first: congratulations on winning the fighting about hunters killing cats! Geez, some people are just beyond my understanding forever! How can you shoot at kitties, seriously?!

Concats on receiving the blog of the year 2013 award twice! It is very much deserved! And thank you so much for nominating me! Last year my human lacked the decency to follow on this award, but not this year!

Have a nice nap and week ahead!

So glad they are not killing those poor cats now. What is it with humans? They have to destroy everything. What gives them the right to decide who should be killed? My mum is angry at this but I’m so glad it got banned thanks to everyone who signed the petition.

    Congrats on the award!

That is the best news possible about not shooting cats 😀 It’s like the badger cull in England, they’ve had to stop it because the people doing the shooting are very poor shots. Horrible. Congratulations on two stars already – you most certainly need lots of tuna to celebrate little Binky!
